Simon de Heer – Picturesque Bloemendaal
July 14, 2018 - January 7, 2019
The work of Simon de Heer (1885-1970) is closely entwined with the village of Bloemendaal. It wasn’t a coincidence when in 1959 Mayor Peereboom Voller called the artist “the patriarch of Bloemendaal painters”. It was here that Simon painted many of his landscapes and portraits of art-loving villagers. The exposition, decorated with the most magnificent fresh flower arrangements, highlights part of his artistic legacy and offers a lovely portrait of Bloemendaal and its residents from the beginning of the 20th century.
