Comic Book Festival 2018 - COLD SWEAT
Zombies, Ghosts and Other Horrors
May 26 – August 27, 2018
While ordinary people go to the beach on a summer day, those with ‘questionable’ taste prefer to look at dead bodies in the dark. Strange things are lurking in the museum this summer– here’s a sneak peek at what awaits you.
Contemporary and classic comic art is highlighted in this particularly creepy exposition by guest curator Joost Pollmann (former Stripdagen director and journalist at De Volkskrant). Highlights include original illustrations by Amsterdam-born comic artist Erik Kriek from Het onzienbare en andere verhalen about the master horror/sci-fi writer H.P. Lovecraft and Dr. Gerald Griebus’ Grenzeloze Griezel Galerij. Drawings from the Griezelogisch Genootschap (Creep Society) and Ambrosius by Dutch illustrator Gideon L. Brugman are shown as well. Also on display are the finer horror and zombie works by Dutch graphic designer Roel Smit (Crucified by Zombies) as well as the most terrifying scenes from The Walking Dead comic book series by American writer Robert Kirkman and British artist Charlie Adlard. A specially created gravestone by Rotterdam designer Joost Halbertsma rounds out the creepiness of the exhibition.
